Abstract:   (3519 Views)
Introduction: Happiness is one of the basic needs and desires of humans. In the present study, the status of happiness and its related factors were investigated among the members of the martyrs and veterans families with a meta-analysis of previous studies in the martyr foundation and veterans affairs. Only three studies were eligible for this meta-analysis.
Conclusion: Totally, there is no significant difference between the mean scores of happiness in the members of the martyrs and veterans families and other people in society. However, the reason for the low level of happiness among the members of the martyrs and veterans families compared with other people (as suggested in some studies) is the harmful physical and mental effects of the war. The proof of this claim requires research with more precise methods, which unfortunately have been neglected in reviewed studies. The most important factors affecting happiness, compared with other factors that are less flexible, and advisable and can be used as policy, are some voluntary activities such as exercise, reading, religious activities, and social affairs, which promote happiness among the martyrs and veterans families. In the area of methodological components, identifying and extracting the fields and areas, in which the members of the martyrs and veterans families are routinely involved with and based on them some suggestions can be presented for improving their level of happiness, require more in-depth and precise studies that use qualitative data in addition to quantitative data and even more.
