Evaluation of Educational and Cultural Promotion of Shahed Students in Shahed and Non-Shahed Schools Compared to Non-Shahed Students

Aims: Based on Shahed project, the children of veterans should receive special support from the organizations in addition to the usual educational services. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the educational and cultural promotions of Shahed students in Shahed and non-Shahed schools compared to non-Shahed students.
Instruments & Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional descriptive-comparative study that was conducted on 2731 Shahed and matched non-Shahed students in Iran in 2017. The subjects were selected by multistage cluster sampling method from the whole country. A researcher-made questionnaire and educational average were used for evaluation of educational and cultural status, physical properties of schools, and educational promotion. Data were analyzed by SPSS 21 software using one-way analysis of variance and Tukey’s post hoc test.
Findings: The mean score of physical properties in Shahed schools was significantly higher than non-Shahed schools (p<0.001). Also the mean score of cultural promotion in Shahed schools was significantly higher than non-Shahed schools (p<0.001). There was no significant difference among three groups in terms of educational promotion and educational average (p>0.05).
Conclusion: The Shahed project has been successful in promoting the cultural status and improving the level of service provided to students. Concerning educational promotion and educational indicators, there is no difference between Shahed and non-Shahed students.
